Um diesen ramponierten frühen U-Boot-Jäger des Coastal Command zu bauen, war einiger Aufwand nötig, obwohl dieser Airfix-Bausatz für seine Zeit ganz gut war. Es ist jetzt mehr als 15 jahre her, daß ich dieses Modell in Angriff nahm. Da ich eine tolle Rißzeichnung hatte, beschloß ich zum ersten Mal, auch die Inneneinrichtung zu machen. Die ist bei Airfix ja absolut minderwertig. Ich machte die Instrumente, die Sitzgurten, die beiden MG's und die Muni-Magazine und noch ein paar andere Sachen. Die Kanzel und der Turm sind selbstgemachte Vacu-Teile, die große Tür im Rumpf ist ebenfalls Eigenbau und beweglich. Am schwierigsten war es aber, die Landeklappen halbwegs korrekt abgesenkt so darzustellen, wie sie hier sind. Die Farbgebung war nicht sehr schwer, die Abnutzungsspuren dieses U-Boot-Jägers durch das Salzwasser erforderten ein wenig Fingerspitzengefühl. Das Fisch-Emblem auf der Nase ist reine Erfindung.

To build this rather weathered Coastal Coammand's early submarine-hunter, much effort as necessary, although this Airfix kit was not so badly, for the time it appeared then.. More than 15 years have passed since I decided the first time to scratchbuild interior parts of this kit, which are done badly by Airfix. I ow a very fine drawing of it, so I hoped to succeed. You can see the selfmade instrument-panels, the seat-belts, the guns and ammunition-magazines and some more self-made parts. The canopy and the back-gunner's turret are self-made vacu's, the tall entry-hatch in the fuselge is self-made, too, and is movable. The most difficult work was to do the flaps in the halfway correct lowered position as I wanted to show it. Camouflaging was not so difficult, the wheathering caused by salty water of this submarine-hunter needed some sort of practice. The nose-art is pure fantasy.
