Wie revolutionär das Konzept dieses Flugzeugs war, zeigt der moderne US-Tarnkappen-Bomber B-2. Diese hält sich jedoch nur durch eine computerunterstütze Flugsteuerung in der Luft, wohingegen die Ho IX nicht schwieriger zu steuern war, als andere Flugzeuge jener Epoche. Erinnern Sie sich noch an den Pioneer 2 Bausatz vor vielen Jahren? Der war grausam (er sollte wohl eine V2 sein). Nicht so Revell, das ist gute Arbeit. Die Paßgenauigkeit ist sehr gut, die Maße genau, die Kanzel kann offen bleiben. Die Einzelteile sind gut gemacht, sogar die Aufteilung entspricht dem original der Ho IX von 1945, als US-Truppen die unfertige V3 mitnahmen. Die Flügel muß man nicht anbauen, die Struktur ist gut gegossen und genau. Es gibt nur drei Schwachpunkte: Im Cockpit sind die seitlichen Konsolen zu kurz, bedingt durch die Konstruktion des Bausatzes. Dort fügte ich Sitzgurten ein und die kleinen Teile der Seitenkonsolen. Der Einblick in den riesigen Bugradschacht zeigt ... nichts - aber dort sieht man die beiden Jumo 004 Triebwerke, so machte ich diese komplett selbst. Die Teilung der Kanonen ist sehr unglücklich; der Verschluß hat einen Teil vom Lauf und Rest-Lauf mit Mündung sind der andere Teil! Für die Zukunft, Revell: Der Verschluß ist ein Teil und Lauf mit Mündung der andere! Es macht aber nichts, die Bewaffnung ist ohnehin Fantasie. Keine Ho IX trug jemals MK 103. Die Markierungen kann man getrost weglassen, bis auf die Wartungshinweise. Die V3 hatte keine anderen Abzeichen. Die Farbe war ein neutrales Grau, ausgenommen hinter den Triebwerksauslässen. Dort trug ich Alufolie auf. Dieser Bausatz bereitete mir große Freude beim Bau, war leicht fertigzustellen und nicht zu viel zusätzliche Arbeit.

How revolutionary this aircrafts concept was, shows the mordern US-stealth- bomber B-2. But the B-2 is able ty fly, caused by its computer-aided flight control management. To control the Ho IX was not more difficult to manage, than any other fighter of this era. Remember the Pioneer 2-kit many years ago ? This was an ugly one (by the way, it seemed to be the V2). Not so Revell, they did a very good work. The fitting of the parts is very fine, the measures are correct, and the canopy can be opened. The parts of the kit are done very well, even the arrangement of the parts is the same as the original Ho IX in 1945, when the US-troops confiscated the unfinished V3. You can leave the wings off the fuselage, the structure is fine-molded and well done. There are only three points to criticize: In the cockpit-area the side-panels are to short, caused by the construction of the kit. There I only added the seat-belts and the smaller parts of the side-panels. The view into the big main-wheel-well shows ... nothing - but here you can take a look onto the two Jumo004 engines, so I had to complete them by scratchbuilt ones. The division of the guns is done very unhappy; the breech has one part of the barrel and the second part of the barrel is moulded with the nozzle. Please Revell, for the future: Breech is one part and barrel with nozzle is one other part! But finally, it does not really matter, because the armament ist fantasy. There was no Ho IX carrying the MK 103. The decals may be put aside, except the ones for the maintenance. The V3 did not carry any signs. The colour of the aircraft was neutral grey, except behind the engine-exhausts. There I added aluminium-foil. In summary, it was a great fun to build this kit, not much extra work, and really easy to finish.
