Mit der Focke Wulf FW 190 gab es auch Versuche, sie als Torpedoträger zu verwenden. Aus dem Bausatz ein ordentliches Modell zu machen, warein ganz schönes Stück Arbeit. MPM lieferte ganze 6 (sechs) Teile: Zwei Rumpfhälften, Zwei Torpedohälften, die Aufhängung und ein neues Spornrad. Und für den Torpedo noch ein paar Fotoätzteile. Von Academy lag eine komplette FW 190 bei. Das zum Preis von ÖS 180,- . In Tschechien kostet der Bausatz zwar dieselbe Summe, Kr 180,- also umgerechnet aber nur ÖS 72,- ! Nun kann man sich mal vorstellen, welch minimale Herstellungskosten für den hervorragenden Academy-Bausatz anfallen. Die Qualität der MPM-Teile ist recht mäßig. Gerettet wurde der Bausatz durch die Academy-Teile. Es war einiges an Anpassung Rumpf/Tragflächen nötig. Nach der Bemalung mit Hellblau unten und Graugrün mit Dunkelgrün oben, brachte ich die Abziehbilder an. Sie waren sehr dünn und anschmiegsam, glänzen aber etwas. Sogar die Nummer 871 ist ein Abziehbild. Die Ätzteile für den Torpedo, Antrieb und Steuerruder, machen sich gut. Es wurde eine tolle 190er, obwohl sie so nie im Einsatz war. Es flogen nur zwei solcher Flugzeuge (Nummer 871 und 872) am Erprobungsgelände Hexengrund in Gotenhafen.

The Focke Wulf FW 190 was also used as test-bed in the role as a torpedo-bomber. It was a rather long and hard piece of work to build a correct model of this kit. MPM delivers 6 (six) parts: Two halves of fuselage frames, two halves of torpedo, a new back-wheel and a rack for the torpedo. And some Photo--etched parts for the torpedo itself. One complete FW 190 by Acadmy is added. The prize is ÖS 180,- (corresponding to $ 16,30 at that time). In Czech Republik, the costs are CzKr 180,- (corresponding to $ 6,50)! Now you can imagine, how low must be the production-costs of the excellent Academy FW 190 . The quality of the MPM-parts is not so fine. Academy-parts are very fine, so I did succeed. But there was much difficult work fitting the fuselage to the wings. After camouflaging in lightblue lower sides and darkgreen with greygreen the upper sides, I attached the very smooth and clear decals, although they are a liitle bit glossy. Even the number 871 is a decal. The photo-etched parts for the torpedo, propulsion and rudder, look like very well. It became a very fine 190, although this configuration never saw service. There were only two such test-beds (number 871 and 872) flying at experimental aircraft-base Hexengrund in Gotenhafen.
