Um die Airfix Marauder zu verbessern, war folgendes nötig: Das Cockpit muß man mit Gurten und ein paar Kleinigkeiten aufpäppeln - durch diese Kanzel sieht man alles! Aber zuerst mußte ich alle neu ziehen, die Airfix-Teile sind zu dick und nicht klar. Der Bombenschacht ist toll - wenn nur alle Airfix 1/72er so gemacht wären - und kann offen bleiben. Ich beschloß, alle MG und alle inneren Teile der Türme und Kanzeln, bis auf das Cockpit, neu zu machen. Besonders das Abteil des Heckschützen brauchte sehr viel Eigenbau - im Bausatz war es fast nicht vorhanden und neben dem Seitenruder waren auch keine Fenster, die mußte ich selbst ausschneiden. Die Türme und alle beweglichen MG sind wirklich beweglich - sehr vorsichtig, aber doch. Kennung und Seriennummer dieser B 26 sind nicht original, aber diese (selbstgemachte) "Nose-Art" war mir den Ausflug in die Fantasie wert. Das ganze Modell ist mit Aluminium beplankt, kein Tropfen Alu-Farbe wurde gebraucht. Ach ja ... wer selbst versucht, diese Airfix B 26 zu bauen, soll nicht vergessen, genug Ballast in die Nase zu stecken - anderenfalls setzt sich der Bausatz nälich auf den Hintern!

To optimize the Airfix Marauder following works were necessary: It is a must to optimize the inner cockpit section with belts and some other small attributes - through this canopy you can see everything ! But first there were to make the canopies new; the Airfix-parts are to thick and not so clear. The bomb-bay is great - if all the Airfix kits in 1/72 were built like this - and can be opened, what I liked to do. I decided to scratchbuild all guns and cannons and all the inside parts of the canopies and turrets, except the pilots cockpit. Especially the rear-gunners-compartment had to be totally scratchbuilt - in the kit it was nearly not existing and there were no upper windows beside the fin, so I had to cut them out by myself. The turret and other movable guns are really movable - very carefully, but they are. I changed the code of this B-26 and the serial-number, so this one is not originally, but I think, the (self-made) "Nose Art" was worthy to make a fantasy come true. There is not one drop of alu-color at this kit, I attached aluminium-foils. By the way ... if you try to build the Airfix B 26 by yourself, don't forget to put enough weight somewhere into the nose - otherwise this kit will sit down at the bottom!
